“Through these three weeks, I made lifelong friends, got several certifications, hiked three volcanoes, participated in community service and explored every island, scuba dived, saw incredible sea life and learned the true boat experience. I had never thought that this experience would turn into one of the best decisions of my life. I would take anything to be back on our boat with my 12 best friends, scuba diving and exploring the deep unknown of the Caribbean. Broadreach did an incredible job making everyones’ experiences the best it could be and I thank them for giving me a summer I will never forget!!” Ellen, middle school alumna

Itinerary

Day 1-3

All aboard!

The start of your adventure is here – board your boat, grab your dive gear and head out with your new crewmates. The ocean is only a jump away as you float on the turquoise blue waters, taking a short sail to Grand Case to start your dive training. Whether you’re learning to dive or already experienced, the ocean is calling! Water sports and paddleboarding round off your first  days as the sun sets over the bay.

Day 4-7

Venturing into open, blue water

Confined water dive training is over, so it’s off to St. Barts and Ile Fourche, an uninhabited island teeming with bird life and great snorkeling spots. You’ll practice raising the sails as you cruise to Colombier to continue working on Open Water certification dives at North Point, Gros Islet or La Baleine. There’s also an opportunity to hike along rocky shores and secluded bays of the islands. Finish off with some town time in picturesque Gustavia, where you can shop for souvenirs, grab an authentic French crepe or simply stroll around the historic marina.

Day 8-10

Stunning Statia

Fair winds take you to Statia next, a fascinating mix of ancient and modern, and a key island in the Caribbean’s history. You’ll get plenty of opportunities to soak up the magic of Statia as you partner with the marine park for community service. Next, you’ll hike The Quill – the island’s towering dormant volcano – which is a highlight that you don’t want to miss. The diving takes in Statia’s many wrecks, and you’ll say hello to the stingrays and turtles that inhabit them! Later, you and your crew can celebrate your many accomplishments so far with a sunset dinner ashore.

Day 11-14

Some of the best diving in the Caribbean

Our last island is Saba and (we think) we’ve saved the best for last! This really is some of the best and most varied diving in the Caribbean, and your instructors will show you the full range – from pinnacles to walls to fringing reefs, Saba has it all. This is also where you’ll have the opportunity to see the creatures on your bucket list: curious sharks, tiny nudibranchs, and elegant rays and turtles. We spend a day on shore, both working on community service projects and visiting the quaint red roofed towns of the island. The trip up ‘The Road That Couldn’t Be Built’ is one you won’t soon forget!

Day 15-17

Heading home with lifelong friends

As you head back to St Martin, you’ll stop for a night in Tintamarre, an uninhabited island with perfect white sand beaches, turquoise blue waters and turtles munching on the sea grass. You’ll experience one last dive on the tugboat wreck, one last glow stick dance party on the boat, leading you reminisce with crewmates about the last 17 days.
