Requirements:
Let the adventure begin! Arrive in Cozumel, settle in, and start the program with orientations, team introductions, and a welcome dinner. Begin diving with an introductory lesson and a checkout beach dive. Visit the Cozumel Museum to learn about the island’s history and marine ecosystems.
Embark on multiple two-tank and three-tank boat dives, exploring Cozumel’s coral reefs and marine species. Participate in academic sessions on reef conservation, fish identification, and marine ecosystems. Experience a turtle night survey walk and contribute to conservation efforts. Engage in group discussions about marine protection policies, and continue to apply research techniques in the water.
Participate in a sunrise beach cleanup at Ixpalbarco to address pollution, followed by dive practice and exam review. Take the academic exam, then enjoy a surf lesson to learn about ocean conditions. Experience a cacao workshop to understand its cultural significance and sustainable farming practices. Visit Punta Sur Park for a mangrove restoration workshop. Conclude the diving portion with final dives and reflect on the program’s key lessons.
